And I Shall Have Some Peace There by Margaret Roach
Sometimes the best thing to do is forget all about the act of drawing, and the brainstorming process. When I feel stuck I try to let go of all thought. It’s not about creating a wonderful drawing. It’s about putting the pen to paper and letting it glide.
Books always inspire me to let go. I love other artist’s sketchbooks because I find the pages that are beautiful and the ones that are a little blah, but it doesn’t matter. As a whole I’m able to witnessing the ups and downs and all the little bits that make us whole—that make us artists.
Recently I stumbled upon Shelfari, a great online resource where people can review books, discuss them, and add them to their very own virtual bookshelf. Today I created a group on Shelfari called Sketch Journals. I added a few books that I love to just to get the ball rolling. It’s open to anyone and I encourage you all to join. It’s a great way to find out about new books, share ideas and create a wish list on your personal virtual bookshelf.
